When will Basic Analog Service end?
Although there is no scheduled date for when Mediacom may eliminate analog cable television service it will be an option for Mediacom to do so. In most communities that Mediacom services both an analog and digital signals are being sent to all of our customers. As more information becomes available Mediacom will communicate to our customers what changes may come with analog cable.

Will a Mediacom HD Cable Box be necessary to use On Demand and/or the Interactive On Screen Guide?
YES! Video On Demand is a two way service and does require a Digital Box from Mediacom. As for the Interactive TV Guide, the Mediacom Digital Box also necessary in order to receive the on screen guide. Although there are many new televisions that also have a guide built into it. It is not necessary to have a Mediacom HD Box in order to receive On Demand. A Standard Definition Box will also bring the Interactive TV Guide and Video On Demand services. A Mediacom HD Box is needed to receive the HD programming which is available On Demand.

Mediacom HDTV - High Definition Television
-
As of May 1st, 2010, Mediacom currently does not carry WFTC HD and KSTC HD. Currently we are working on getting the necessary equipment and other resources necessary to launch these channels for our customers in Metro and South Central Minnesota. Keep your eye on your Interactive Guide and messages from Mediacom for when these channels will launch in HD.

What will a simple HD receiver for my old analog TV cost?
Trick question. Although a Mediacom HD Box will work when connected to an analog television, the picture that you will be watching will NOT be in High Definition. It will not matter what equipment you place on an analog television the picture will not be in High Definition. A High Definition television is necessary in order to watch programming in HD.
